Sheltering
There are those special spots along any trail where a circle of space is delineated by the sheltering overstory of a special tree. You know it when you enter it, or right before. This is a painting of one of many, many, many of those special spaces in the Hoh Rainforest. The impulse to lay down in a small hollow in the tree’s own cove of care and gaze up and the gentle movements of its branches, watching little specks of fertile life drift down around you is a healthy one.
